Welcome! I am Katherine Jefferson, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I am originally from Birmingham, Alabama, where I completed my Master's Degree in Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While pursuing my master's degree, I worked as a registered nurse in a neurological and trauma intensive care unit at UAB Hospital for over five years. I later worked as a travel nurse at Saint Anthony Hospital in Colorado. As a nurse, I saw how mental health disorders were often overlooked or left untreated. This lack of diagnosis and effective treatment of mental health conditions was something I became passionate about and is why I pursued my career as a nurse practitioner specializing in psychiatric mental health. 

I focus on treating adolescents and adults ages 14 to 65. My experience includes working with clients with mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorders), anxiety disorders, ADHD, and those going through life changes and transitions. As a provider, I value a non-judgmental, client-centered approach to care. I strive to create a sensitive, non-judgmental environment where my clients feel safe and can openly express their concerns, values, and needs to achieve their best overall health. 

My practice revolves around creating a comprehensive plan of care that works for you and your lifestyle. Through active listening and brainstorming, together, we will develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to you and your needs. I emphasize a holistic treatment plan using evidence-based options, including medication management and other alternative therapies such as supportive therapy and mindfulness. I know mental health care is not a one-size-fits-all; everyone has unique experiences and needs, and I am here to support you through your own individual journey. 

FUN FACT

Me and my husband moved to Colorado two and a half years ago to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with our Bichon Poodle, Louis Mae. When I am not working, you can find me hiking, skiing, watching movies, in book club, or vacationing to Alabama to visit my family at the beach.
